Palermo Argentinian Bistro is a steakhouse restaurant in the Theater District neighborhood of New York City, which is located on Restaurant Row.

On March 9, this journalist had the opportunity to dine in Palermo for brunch. It will be celebrating its first anniversary this May. Carlos Barroz serves as the executive chef.

Most impressive is that this eatery draws its inspiration from Palermo, a destination in Buenos Aires, which is known for its fashionable bars and restaurants. The restaurant is set in a three-story brownstone, which was built in 1894 so it has a retro vibe to it.

Appetizers

As an appetizer, one should try their empanadas, which come either as beef or corn and cheese. It comes with complimentary bread, as well as sauce, which is not spicy.

Entrée: Parrillada

As a main course, the “Parrillada” is the highlight item of the menu. It is comprised of short rib, NY strip sirloin, skirt steak, chicken, chorizo (sausage), green salad, and French fries. It was served with chimichurri, salsa criolla and roasted red peppers.

Their chicken was thoroughly marinated, and the meat was tender and topped with roasted with red peppers. Their grilled asparagus is a solid side dish accompanied with saffron aioli.

Desserts

While dining at Palermo, one should leave room for dessert. Solid choices are Flan, Dulce de leche, and bread pudding with vanilla ice cream.

The Verdict

Overall, Palermo Argentinian Bistro is a warm, cozy, and noteworthy restaurant in the Big Apple. It is a neat introduction to the Argentinian cuisine for anybody who may be unfamiliar with it.

Palermo offers traditional Argentinian barbecue with a modern twist to it. There is something new to try in each visit due to its extensive menu choices.

This restaurant is a must for anybody that enjoys beef, steaks, or chicken; moreover, the wait staff at Palermo are courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive. It is highly recommended that one checks out Palermo in New York City. This eatery garners an A rating.
