AI enables individuals to take their work to the next level. Generative AI lets them create conversations, new content, and innovative ideas while preserving privacy because it synthesizes data instead of relying on real-world details. Tomofumi Nakata and Tokumasa Yamashita, co-founders of Qlay Technologies, use their moral leadership and computer science expertise to embrace the artificial intelligence realm and empower people to think creatively.

Tomofumi Nakata’s radical approach to consultation analysis

Tomofumi began his tech journey with two key fields — Film Production and Statistics — as he was intrigued by art and science. He graduated from Harvard College in 2019, having been a part of its Financial Analyst Club and writing a paper on predicting box office movie performances with the use of statistical analysis methods, namely Principle Component Analysis and other clustering techniques.

McKinsey and Company soon found Tomofumi instrumental as a global growth marketing strategist and an advisor. He regularly interacted with C-suite clients, demonstrating his ability to give insight into product portfolios, channels, scenario testing, and competitive analyses. In other projects, Tomofumi was in charge of advising a global manufacturer’s Chief Strategy Officer on optimal investment allocation strategies. Tomofumi also dealt with other practical transformations – one example being decreasing an international electronics company’s net working capital by more than $25 million across many business units.

After advising clients in various industries, Tomofumi later decided to focus on the consumer sector. One of his most exceptional projects was for a leading fast-food company, wherein he conducted consumer surveys in many global markets to scrutinize the global landscape, consumer decision-making, and growth opportunities. He employed his technical prowess to use statistical modeling and machine learning to investigate consumers’ purchase behaviors. In addition to this milestone achievement, Tomofumi built a global portfolio growth framework for a principal beverage company using artificial intelligence and inventive workshops.

Tokumasa Yamashita’s journey to technological solutions

Tokumasa has been exemplary of academic excellence. In 2003, he graduated from MIT with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Science and Engineering. He received an accolade for his outstanding grades, earning himself a nomination to join MIT’s National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Tokumasa’s journey took him to Japan’s financial sector, where he worked as a software engineer for Citigroup. Demonstrating his leadership ability, he directed a team of four proficient developers and gained deep insight into the software development lifecycle.

The next step in his career guided him to PAG, a leading Asian investment management firm. He was on the acquisitions team, underwriting and executing the acquisition of hard assets, non-performing loans, CMBS, and real estate companies. After five years at the firm, his former boss from Citigroup contacted him to help launch Tamecco, a customer loyalty AI startup. As its CTO and CFO, Tokumasa raised $5 million from investors and onboarded nearly 3,000 Japanese restaurant chains onto their platform, amassing an MAU of over 500,000 users in just five years. 

After leaving the startup, the consulting industry found interest in Tokumasa’s exceptional abilities in technology, business, finance, and experience with launching startups. He joined the Deloitte crew as a management consultant and operated chiefly with corporate venture capital advisory projects in the energy and railway fields. After helping Deloitte assist companies with investing in startups and launching new businesses for two and a half years, Tokumasa founded Canaan Advisors, his own consulting agency.

Qlay Technologies’ impact on the generative AI world

After meeting through a co-founder matching program, Tomofumi and Tokumasa founded Qlay Technologies. Tokumasa’s mission was to share knowledge with future entrepreneurs and help them succeed, while Tomofumi desired to develop software that would make people’s lives easier and better. Tomofumi envisaged people being liberated from automated tasks to focus on strategic work.

Qlay, a brainchild of the duo, leverages Generative AI to revolutionize consumer sentiment analytics. By collecting data from online data sources like social media and review platforms, it swiftly generates comprehensive sentiment analytics reports, enabling companies to grasp consumers’ live opinions and reactions to products and marketing materials. Co-founder Tomofumi states, “Qlay not only aggregates data; it transforms it into actionable insights. This allows companies to make well-informed quick business decisions in real-time.” This transformative technology not only streamlines the research process but also significantly enhances consumer engagement and satisfaction. In an industry driven by consumer perception, Qlay emerges as a beacon of innovation, offering a quantum leap in the realm of marketing and research.
