Prefer the bustle of a crowd or a night in front of the TV? Assuming we can pop people into a binary personality box and discuss them in terms of being extroverts or introverts, how to the world’s major cities stack up on these broad characteristics?

‘Extroverted cities’ provide many opportunities for networking, collaboration, and social interactions which research shows are crucial to boosting mood and brain health. But what are the best cities worldwide for extroverts? 

This is something that ab online print firm called Solopress has investigated and the company has shared the data with Digital Journal.

This reveals the best cities worldwide, for those with an extroverted lifestyle, based on metrics such as population density, cost of Netflix, average monthly salary, quality of greens & parks, and things to do. 

New York ranks as the best city in the world for extroverts

The data indicates that New York ranks as the best city in the world for extroverts, with over 195 things to do. This is not the lowest cost option, however, since New York City has the highest household bills, with residents paying over $15 for Netflix and nearly $75 for Wi-Fi. 

The top 10 cities in the world for introverts 

For those of a different disposition, Ubud, belonging to the paradise island of Bali, tops the chart as the best global city for an introvert. With beaches, jungles and party havens, the tropical island offers a variety of things to do. Ubud is also home to the cheapest Netflix prices, at just £6.01 a month and offers 185 jobs per 10,000 people in the city. 

Following Ubud, Madeira offers the ideal work destination for introverts, with one in five jobs, or 2,130 per 10,000 people, being remote, the highest of all cities analysed. Romania’s western city of Timișoara provides the cheapest Wi-Fi of all cities, costing just £7.29 per month. The city is also home to fast Wi-Fi speeds (115 Mbps) and 10 registered activities across the city.
