Actress and musician Jessica Lowndes chatted about her new visual album “88.”

’88’ album

For Lowndes, she noted that “88” was a labor of love. “This album was really special to me,” she admitted. “It was incredible. It was self-financed, and we shot the entire thing in two days.”

“I have very talented friends and we all came together. This album is for the fans and it’s also for my friends to showcase their talents. It is everyone that I love doing what they are passionate about,” she said.

“After I did ‘Elemental,’ I didn’t know if I would ever do another visual album again because it was a lot of work. Last year, I was feeling really inspired, and I wrote eight new songs within a couple of weeks.”

“I’m in a place in my life where I just love creating art with my friends, and it’s one of my favorite things to do. I had it tie in with my birthday. The entire experience is 11 minutes and eight seconds, and I was born on November 8th. I wanted to show the spectrum of the human experience,” she acknowledged.

“It’s all about self-love and reconnecting with yourself. Also, not being afraid to walk away from the things that are no longer serving you. I love the journey and I thought it was cool to do eight videos from the ‘80s,” she elaborated.

“For these music videos, we really wanted to play with the ‘80s, and it was really fun. That’s what we did with the sounds too. We’ve got a lot of infectious beats, and I wanted it to feel very energetic and uplifting,” she said.

“I thought it was cool to release it on Valentine’s Day because there are love songs, breakup songs, as well as songs about self-love. There is a song for everybody out there,” she added.

Favorite song on the album

“I like all of the songs on this album for different reasons,” she admitted. “At the moment, if I had to choose one, it would be ‘Sad But I Don’t Care.’ I liked the premise of it because when I was writing it, I was going through a transition, and I was feeling sad.”

“It is also a letter to my future faceless person because there are a million stars in the sky, and I know the right thing is going to come in my life. There is a sense of peace that comes with that,” she noted.

“The whole theme of the album goes around that song, especially with trusting the unknown,” she added.

Lowndes had great works working with Sebastian Hansson on “Never Let You Go.”

“This is my third time working with Sebastian; he is amazing,” she exclaimed. “I’ve worked with him three times; I love his voice so much and I thought it would be really cool to feature him on this album. That is one of my favorite songs on there as well.”

‘A Harvest Homecoming’ movie

On being a part of the Great American Family and Great American Pure Flix rom-com “A Harvest Homecoming,” she said, “It was incredible. It was amazing to reunite with Trevor Donovan because I worked with him on ‘90210’ for four years. It was so special, and I am proud of that movie… It was a lot of fun.”

Working with Gladys Knight

Lowndes also spoke about working with Gladys Knight in the Great American Family holiday film “I’m Glad It’s Christmas.” “Gladys Knight is a legend,” she exclaimed.

“When I first got the offer, I thought it was another actress with the same name,” she admitted. “I couldn’t believe that it was the Gladys Knight, and I was so fortunate that I got to sing with her. It was definitely a pinch-me moment, and one of the coolest experiences ever.”

“Gladys was a pro, spunky, and a really great actress too; I was blown away,” she said. “Also, she is still on tour, and she is still doing what she loves. I would love to do another movie with her someday.”

‘Harmony from the Heart’ film

Lowndes also described her Valentine’s Day-themed movie “Harmony from the Heart” as the “gift that keeps on giving.”

“That was such a special experience. I wrote it for my real grandma, and I dedicated it to her. To see it back out there and everybody watching it again is really cool,” she admitted.

Closing thoughts on the ’88’ album

For her fans and listeners, Lowndes concluded, “I hope other people love this album as much as I do.”
